Ricoh Electronics received
consistent feedback from customers that one of their Kneader models,
used in toner cartridges, was failing. The company realized that
the product had a manufacturing flaw, and needed to find a way to
rapidly define and fix the problem.
Ricoh needed a product
diagram that would enable the customer to clearly identify which
pin in the kneader was failing. Desert Wolfe Designs worked from
a copy of the engineering specifications to develop a basic knowledge
of the engineering specifications then drew a simplified version
of the specifications that customers could understand.
Faulty products have
the potential to do considerable harm to a company's reputation
and sales, so Ricoh needed to solve this problem quickly.
We created a design that enabled them to use visual tactics to gather
specific information from their customers and turn that information
into a solution.
